Preparation

  1. Prep the Bread: Butter a 9×13-inch (or equivalent 3-quart) baking dish. Arrange baguette pieces evenly in the dish.


  2. Make Custard: Whisk together eggs, eggnog, bourbon, vanilla, and pumpkin spice blend until fully combined. Pour over bread, ensuring all pieces are saturated. Cover and refrigerate overnight.


  3. Prepare Topping: Combine softened butter, cinnamon, sugar, and maple syrup. Spoon over bread, filling nooks and crannies for flavor pockets.


  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 50–60 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.


  5. Make Eggnog Sauce: In a medium saucepan, whisk together eggnog, half and half, cinnamon, sugar, sea salt, and cornstarch over medium heat. Wisk generously and cook until the sauce comes to a boil and thickens while continuing to whisk. Once you have reached the peek of your desired thickness immediately take off the heat and serve warm over French toast bake.

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2 cups eggnog

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 Tbsp pumpkin spice blend (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice)


Butter Spread Topping:

  • 1 1/2 sticks softened butter

  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon

  • 3 oz maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup sugar


Eggnog Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 cups eggnog

  • 1/2 cup half and half

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 pinch coarse sea salt

  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
